Regarding gender identity and sexual orientation

[edit]

After reverting an edit just now, I see there have been several other instances of (mostly anonymous) editors removing "heterosexual" from the description "heterosexual trans woman" in the lead of this article. I'll assume good faith and offer the following explanation for the genuinely ignorant:

- Sexual orientation and gender identity are separate things.

- The shorthand is that sexual orientation is who you go to bed with, whereas gender identity as who you go to bed as.

- Just as cisgender people can be of any sexual orientation, transgender people can be as well.

- A heterosexual trans woman is a woman who was assigned male at birth and is exclusively or primarily attracted to men. Funcrunch (talk) 23:34, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
