Question from DzoharLA516 on Nancy O'Dell (08:39, 25 November 2024)
[edit]I'm working with Nancy O'Dell to upload a more recent picture from 2024 associated with her new television show entitled "Crime Exposé with Nancy O'Dell." The current picture is from 2011. How do we upload and label the new picture? --DzoharLA516 (talk) 08:39, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Please see commons:Special:UploadWizard — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:11, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Wouldn't the same logic also apply to Category:Category-Class articles, Category:Draft-Class articles, Category:File-Class articles, Category:Portal-Class articles, Category:Project-Class articles, Category:User-Class articles and Category:Template-Class articles as well? Shouldn't they also be renamed? Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 23:28, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yes! I was testing the water when nominating FM-class articles. Do you think we should open a new CfD for all these others? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:46, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Don't forget Category:Disambig-Class articles (1,157), Category:Redirect-Class articles (1,248) and Category:NA-Class articles (8,307) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:49, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think that's a great idea. Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 18:08, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Class ratings
[edit]Hi, I saw your second note about class ratings in the banner shell. I've been using the rater script and I believe that's the cause, I will have to look into it and file a bug report. I just wanted to let you know what the cause likely was as I'm sure you've seen this error elsewhere. I'll start double-checking when I use the script going forward, thanks! ASUKITE 15:01, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, rater is quite buggy and no one is really maintaining it anymore — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:07, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello may I know the reason why you moved a class C article to a Class Start ? article name is Ahmed Haitham NormadicEditor (talk) 20:38, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- @NormadicEditor I was the editor trying to fix the templates and sort out the mess that you made. I think it was @JoeNMLC who updated the rating — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:54, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

Rating
[edit]Thanks for your attention to my rating of French theory. I recommend, however, that you direct your comments to whomever is maintaining the Rater script. Or, if it is not being maintained, possibly there is someway to have it removed or deprecated or something? Patrick (talk) 23:02, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- I believe it is possible to set the rating correctly in the banner shell using rater, with the individual banners set to (inherit from shell), but I guess it is not that obvious — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 23:04, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll look at this more carefully next time I use it. Patrick (talk) 23:09, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
When to update the assessment cat
[edit]The categories are being moved, see WP:CFDW. Won't you frustrate the bot by putting the contents back in the old assessment cats? [1] – Fayenatic London 12:00, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Some are moving and some are not. It's difficult to coordinate these moves because the template edit has to happen at the same time as the category move — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- The best practice would be to list all the project categories together, so that they could be processed more nearly at the same time, rather than spread out alphabetically through a long list of content categories. But once a list has been saved on CFDW, I think JJMC89's bot works through it all, not paying attention to subsequent changes in instructions until if finishes the list that it read. – Fayenatic London 22:54, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have updated the template and manually moved most of the remaining project categories. – Fayenatic London 23:26, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Concerned4ualways on Talk:Justin Berry (22:04, 15 December 2024)
[edit]Hello. I Have news about Justin and would like to comment on the Knute Marvin Berry article as well. How do I begin? I am new here. --Concerned4ualways (talk) 22:04, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
Banner shell
[edit]I use rater, which automatically does what that does. Paul Vaurie (talk) 19:15, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Do you just follow all the articles I make or something? Paul Vaurie (talk) 06:51, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
Hey. I'm a little bit frustrated by your repeated messages asking me to use "banner shell". Firstly, who cares? And secondly, if this annoys you so much, please fix the rater tool. I will continue using that tool whether it produces the type of talk page you like or not. Paul Vaurie (talk) 20:59, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, rater can add the banner shell and I think that is the default option, so I'm not sure why this isn't working for you. For example, I just created Draft talk:Haslett P. Burke using rater and it worked well — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:46, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
Problem with change to Module:WikiProject banner
[edit]The change you recently made to Module:WikiProject banner might have caused a problem with non-article class assessments. Pages such as Category talk:Christmas characters are now assessing all WikiProjects, even those that have the Category parameter, as NA class. This could cause the NA class to become unnavigable in larger WikiProjects. Is there anything you can do to fix this. Thank you in advance. (Oinkers42) (talk) 03:32, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. We have improved the code. Please check Module talk:WikiProject banner for updates — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:46, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

WikiProject Category-Class page categories
[edit]Hello. It appears that yesterday, as the result of the discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 December 7#Category:Category-Class articles, hundreds of categories were moved from titles like "WikiProject Foo Category-Class articles" to "WikiProject Foo Category-Class pages". However, the underlying WikiProject templates which assign pages to these categories have not been changed, and so no pages have actually been moved from the "Category-Class articles" categories to the "Category-class pages" categories. I write to you because of your comment last week asking "Perhaps the bot operator could give us some indication on when these will be moved, so we can syncronise the change?" Unfortunately, the bot operator (me) is not a mind reader, and so I had no knowledge of this discussion until today. The answer to your question is -- never. The bot simply will not move a page if it has been placed in a category by a template. The only way this can happen is if the template itself is edited. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:52, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. The module (Module:WikiProject banner) was indeed updated several days ago, and pages should be making their way across gradually. We set it up so that as soon as the new category was created it would start being used. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:43, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
